My problem with these spammers is: this year, eveyone in the game has F10, /help, /wiki, and /wiki coal, etc. at their disposal. I'm not sure they know about it, however. The "Local" checkbox still works, so that shuts them up, too.

yes, because we all spammed local chat with retarded sentences when we didn't know where to get X.
Also, newbie != noob

I agree. I have no problem with people asking questions. It's those people that can't seem to be bothered even reading local chat after they've asked, and just keep on spamming. I really don't like how I'm practically forced to turn off local chat. I like to lend a helping hand to people who actually need it during events, or listen in to try and find decent conversation.
The worst I have seen so far was someone asking in Kamadan where the snowball fight NPC was. That's the epitomy of lazy right there.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you suggesting that everyone that plays or played GW is/was a noob? Why do you compare other players to you?

I'm not denying I wasn't. However I did not spam during Holidays looking for help, not to mention with horrible grammar and spelling, when there are readily available sources for help, and even an in-game command to take you to one of the sites.

I really wish people would look things up for themselves.
And I despise snowball arena. Dodgeball is so much better. 20 minutes, and I've made three CCS.

Do the quests. There's even a line in one of them that says to ask... it's the one with the coal in it. I suspect it was designed that way to encourage charity on the part of veteran players. I guess it didn't work, and I guess whining about it is now in the spirit of Wintersday. I wish I'd never seen this thread, especially the title. I feel so disappointed that people actually take this attitude for Wintersday.

2 year guild wars player but this is my first wintersday for me so go ahead and call me a noob, whatever. I would love to use the official wiki but the wintersday 2007 page still being updated with new content. So until the wiki is 100%, people like me are still going to ask questions. It would be nice if anet made sure the wiki page was 100% before the event but I guess that's a bit too much to ask.
Anyways, thanks Anet for what's shaping up to be a nice event; can't wait for the finale.

I think what he means is there is a difference between a noob and a newb. People don't realise. A newb is someone new to the game, so they have a legitimate excuse. A noob, on the other hand, is an idiot. I could elaborate more, but I can't be bothered.

I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can. It's part of the Wintersday tradition. I'm opening the game now.

And I bet you love it when you answer and they keep spamming their question in local chat, or realize that 7 people ask the same question that you just answered not 10 seconds ago.

- No, I was born and raised to learn how to survive in a society. There are talents like empathy (the ability to share someone else's feelings or experiences by imagining what it would be like to be in their situation) and concepts like information networks made by experts in order to help other people effectively. Also there are customs like saying "thank you" when another person does you a favor.
All of these are what some people lack.
They ask for help (I don't think they ever realize how often their question is asked)
When I direct them to source of information (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page) they have no idea how that is going to help them.
They usually cuss at me. Are they really expecting me to search for answers and copy-paste them to that small chat space for them?

Answering a question is fine. Except when its like this....
"WHERE I GET COAL"
"From Vanguard Kyle in Ascalon.."
"WHERE I GET COAL"
"Vanguard Kyle in Ascalon..."
"WHERE I GET COAL"
"I've already said Vanguard Kyle in Ascalon"
"WHERE I GET F**KING COAL"
"............"
Yeah some great local chat Q&A going on there.

As this thread really isn't constructive, and is basically a "bash" others thread that serve's no purpose and has little to none discussion factor..
Thread Closed.
